PocaHAUNTus returns for a chilling second season.

PocaHAUNTus, the award winning haunted house event put on by the Pocahontas Chamber and Pocahontas Fire Department, returns for its second year the last three weekends of October. It takes place at the Pocahontas Fire Station Shed on Highway 4.

“We are very excited about the event this year,” stated Parker Aden, Executive Director for the Pocahontas Chamber of Commerce. “We have an all new layout and completely new rooms. It’s a brand new experience from last year, and one that we think is even better.”

Cover Option 1

This year, the haunted house is supporting the Chamber and Fire Department, as well as the Pocahontas Meals On Wheels program. Admission is $15, and $3 will go towards a different community project each year. This year’s project was selected as the Meals On Wheels program. The remaining $12 will be split evenly between the Chamber and Fire Department, to support each organization with the equipment and projects they do in the community.

Cover Option 2

The dates are October 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, and 26. Lights On runs from 6-7 PM, and Lights Off 7-10 PM. Those who don’t like as many scares can attend Lights On, which is available for ALL ages to see the decorations and different rooms. Those who want the full set of scares should attend the Lights Off portion. Admission will be sold until 9:45 each evening, so make sure to arrive before then. Parking is available in the gravel lot behind the fire station and at the Rittgers Spine & Wellness/Pocahontas Dental building. A concession stand with a few options will be available. And if you arrive before 7 PM, considering getting ice cream or eating your dinner right across the street at Udder Cow!

Thanks to an Operation Round Up grant from Iowa Lakes Electric Charitable Foundation, several new animatronics and costumes were purchased for the event this year. Per teases on social media, there appears to be an electric hallway, a butcher room, and a Purge inspired room. With around 20 total rooms and areas this year, it’s a fright you won’t want to miss!
