Great Full Grub Opens in Laurens

A restaurant with a purpose is open in Laurens.
Great Full Grub, owned by Michelle Wells and managed by Brenda Behrends, is offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, Mondays through Saturdays. The restaurant had a soft opening last week and is now up and running from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wells said they selected the name Great Full Grub, with a cross for the “t” to spread a message throughout the community. “We’re hoping it kind of speaks for itself, bringing the kingdom of God, the joy and peace,” Wells said.
Behrends called Great Full Grub a faith-based restaurant. “Laurens needs encouragement,” she said, adding that the restaurant is a place “you can sit down, so you can feel welcome. We want (customers) to come in a feel blessed when they come.” Behrends said she’s always willing to give someone a chance to work at a job, and she wants to be welcoming to customers, too. “Everybody has a past, but everybody has a future,” she said. “I’m excited about helping the people I hired here.”
Pocahontas County Economic Development awarded Great Full Grub a Jump-Start Accelerator grant, and PCEDC Director MaryJo Litwiller was instrumental in helping Wells jump through hoops to open the restaurant. “We are thrilled that the Great Full Grub will be a part of Laurens and provide another quality restaurant in the county,” Litwiller said.
Behrends said the restaurant’s goal “is to provide a quick, convenient, and delicious dining experience that brings people together. We’ve designed our menu with the tastes of Laurens in mind, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone!”
The breakfast menu includes English muffin and croissants with meat, eggs and cheese, as well as a breakfast burrito or a stuffed waffle. Lunch and dinner are diner fare — burgers, tenderloins, chicken sandwiches and strips and walleye strips, as well as salads, fries and other sides.
Great Full Grub is located on Highway 10 in Laurens.
